The Beyond Carbon campaign is a nationwide initiative of Bloomberg Philanthropies aimed at ending our dependence on fossil fuels and advancing the transition to a 100% clean energy economy. Building off the success of Beyond Coal, the Beyond Carbon campaign provides quality data and research, works with state leaders to advance clean energy policy, and supports grassroots organizations and litigation efforts aimed at putting a halt to the expansion of methane gas plants.
Beyond Carbon Fund, a project of New Venture Fund, and Beyond Carbon Action Fund, a project of Sixteen Thirty Fund, are regranting partners working with Beyond Carbon and advocates around the country to build on the leadership and climate progress underway in our states, cities, and communities.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Equity & Workforce Program Manager is pivotal in advancing transformative policy and advocacy initiatives within the equity and workforce program portfolio. This position will drive meaningful impact by collaborating with leadership, grantees, internal teams, and key partners.
This is an opportunity for a relationship builder, strategic thinker, and proactive problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Equity & Workforce Program Manager will monitor and evaluate grantee performance, conduct due diligence, and ensure the seamless execution of grantmaking efforts. Additionally, the Equity & Workforce Program Manager will identify and cultivate relationships with new grantees and partner organizations, fostering relationships that align with organizational policy and advocacy priorities and goals.

The Equity & Workforce Program Manager will be responsible for the following:
Grantee Partnership & Support
Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of grantees, providing responsive, solution-oriented support to ensure the successful execution of grant activities.
Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with grantees, fostering collaboration, transparency, and alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
Provide guidance to grantees on reporting requirements, funding expectations, and capacity-building need
Grant Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
Oversee the performance and impact of grantees by conducting due diligence, analyzing grantee reports, and benchmarking performance against key metrics and organizational goals.
Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement, offering data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making.
Manage the collection, organization, and dissemination of grantee accomplishments in order to produce compelling reports and summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
Grant Operations and Process Management
Ensure the smooth and efficient execution of grantmaking processes, from application review to disbursement and reporting.
Identify and vet prospective grantees and partner organizations, aligning partnerships with organizational objectives.
Develop and refine internal systems, tools, and processes to enhance operational efficiency, streamline workflows, and support continuous improvement.
Collaboration, Relationship Management & Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with internal colleagues and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment, resource sharing, and cohesive strategy execution.
Build and maintain relationships with key grantmaking partners and provide them with clear, timely, and consistent communication, informing them of program milestones, grantee accomplishments, and key updates.
Respond to internal and external inquiries promptly and effectively, ensuring high satisfaction and trust.
Additional Responsibilities
Support special projects, cross-functional initiatives, and other duties as assigned to contribute to overall organizational success.
Act as a thought partner to leadership, sharing insights and recommendations to strengthen grantmaking strategy and impact.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES
Candidates from a range of backgrounds are welcome. The ideal candidate offers many of the following attributes and skills described below, but need not possess them all for consideration:
5+ years of program management experience with mission-driven organizations in the climate or environmental, nonprofit, philanthropy, social enterprise, communications policy, campaign, and/or government sectors.
Strong legislative, federal, and state policy knowledge, with a keen interest in current events that directly impact climate and environmental initiatives.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and translate big ideas into actionable plans.
Proven experience drafting memos, briefings, one-pagers, and reports conveying crucial information for internal and external audiences under tight timelines.
Demonstrated success in building tracking systems for grantee accomplishments and programmatic needs, enhancing team and partner effectiveness.
Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with meticulous attention to detail in tracking grant processes and deadlines.
Versatile team player who thrives in both collaborative environments and independent work settings, maintaining productivity and accountability across both.
Outstanding interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build positive relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Energized by working in a fast-paced environment where flexibility and creativity in managing urgent requests and reprioritization are required.
Strong passion for climate and environmental issues, advocacy, and politics.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive information.
Technical proficiency with program management software (i.e., Asana, Slack, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
TRAVEL
This role will require 5-10% of U.S.-based travel for convenings, partner meetings, staff retreats, and other programmatic initiatives.
LOCATION
This is a remote, U.S.-based position.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000 annually, with an anticipated starting salary dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the hired candidate.
In addition, Beyond Carbon Fund and Beyond Carbon Action Fund offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families).
Enrollment in a 401(k) retirement plan with eligibility for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401(k) contributions.
Pre-tax transportation benefits.
Two hundred (200) hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 16 hours of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually.
Thirteen (13) paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
Twelve (12) weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
