The Beyond Carbon campaign is a nationwide initiative of Bloomberg Philanthropies aimed at ending our dependence on fossil fuels and advancing the transition to a 100% clean energy economy. Building off the success of Beyond Coal, the Beyond Carbon campaign provides quality data and research, works with state leaders to advance clean energy policy, and supports grassroots organizations and litigation efforts aimed at putting a halt to the expansion of methane gas plants.
Beyond Carbon Fund, a project of New Venture Fund, and Beyond Carbon Action Fund, a project of Sixteen Thirty Fund, are regranting partners working with Beyond Carbon and advocates around the country to build on the leadership and climate progress underway in our states, cities, and communities.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Funder Communications & Content Director will play a critical role in shaping and delivering clear, impactful, and strategic communications to the funder of Beyond Carbon Fund and Beyond Carbon Action Fund.
Reporting to the Executive Director, this sophisticated leader will create, review, and manage all communications related to programmatic deliverables, impact, and alignment with organizational priorities.
Serving as the final point of quality control, the Funder Communications & Content Director ensures that communications are accurate, compelling, and reflective of the organization’s culture of excellence. This individual will work cross-functionally with teams across the organization to develop content that informs, inspires, and educates the funder.
The ideal candidate will bring exceptional attention to detail and superior writing and verbal communication skills. This individual will be a high-performing, results-driven professional with strong experience managing philanthropic relations, creating compelling donor communications, and articulating program impact.
The Funder Communications & Content Director will be responsible for the following:
Funder Communications
Lead the creation, editing, and quality control of all funder communications, including memos, deliverable updates, impact summaries, and responses to funder inquiries.
Develop clear, concise, compelling narratives that reflect progress toward goals, achievements, and alignment with funder priorities and expectations.
Ensure all communications reflect a consistent tone and voice.
Thoughtfully respond to funder inquiries in a timely manner.
Quality Control & Accuracy
Serve as the final reviewer and approver of all funder-facing materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and excellence.
Collaborate with internal teams to verify data, deliverable completion, and accuracy of impact metrics before sharing with the funder.
Identify and address potential risks or issues in communications before submission and/or presentation the funder
Strategy & Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with senior leaders to prepare for key funder meetings and develop essential materials, including talking points, briefings, and follow-up communications.
Stay current on funder expectations, emerging trends, and best practices for engagement and impact reporting.
Build systems of cross collaboration across the program team, senior staff, funders, and key partners to ensure the quality and content of communications.
Content Development
Create templates, tools, and resources to standardize and streamline funder communications.
Develop best practices and guidelines for funder-facing messaging to ensure continuity, clarity, and high-impact communications.
Lead creation of funder-facing materials including presentations, slide decks, and other briefing materials.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES
Candidates from a range of backgrounds are welcome. The ideal candidate offers many of the following attributes and skills described below, but need not possess them all for consideration:
10+ years of professional experience in communications, nonprofit development, donor/funder engagement, or a related field within a mission-driven organization.
Deep experience managing funder relationships and impact reporting for high-impact, multi-year grants.
Superior written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, and proofreading, focusing on impact-driven, concise, and persuasive content.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, analyze complex information, navigate ambiguity, and anticipate needs.
Highly meticulous and process-oriented with an exemplary ability to identify errors and inconsistencies in reports, narratives, and data.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to interact confidently with the funder and internal leadership.
Energized by working in a fast-paced environment where flexibility and creativity in managing urgent requests and reprioritization are required.
Highly collaborative with a proven ability to build positive relationships and effectively communicate with a diverse representation of internal and external stakeholders.
Strong passion for climate and environmental issues, advocacy, and politics.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
TRAVEL
This role will require 5-10% of U.S.-based travel for convenings, partner meetings, staff retreats, and other programmatic initiatives.
LOCATION
This is a remote, U.S.-based position.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position is $180,000 to $240,000 annually, with an anticipated starting salary dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the hired candidate.
In addition, Beyond Carbon Fund and Beyond Carbon Action Fund offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families).
Enrollment in a 401(k) retirement plan with eligibility for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401(k) contributions.
Pre-tax transportation benefits.
Two hundred (200) hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 16 hours of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually.
Thirteen (13) paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
Twelve (12) weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
Monthly internet and fitness benefits and cell phone reimbursements.
